This role focuses on guiding new Registered Nurses (RNs) through their initial 3-6 months of employment, providing structured onboarding, ongoing support, coaching, and mentorship to ensure their success and retention. The RN Coach acts as a primary resource and role model, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Key responsibilities include reinforcing clinical workflows, documentation standards, and escalation protocols, as well as developing and delivering educational materials on evidence-based practices for CKD/ESKD care. The coach will utilize various coaching techniques to build new RNs' clinical skillsets, including simulation-based learning, case study analysis, teach-back methods, and direct observation. They will also coach RNs on developing strong clinical acumen, such as root cause analysis, symptom identification, and creating patient-centered care plans. Performance evaluation and quality improvement are crucial, involving the interpretation of clinical dashboards, tracking onboarding metrics, assessing coaching progress, and collaborating with managers and the auditing team to identify learning gaps and create targeted development plans. Effective collaboration and communication with Clinical Services Managers (CSMs), Clinical Coaches, and other IKC leaders are essential for a seamless onboarding experience. The role also involves fostering open communication between new RNs and their interdisciplinary teams (NPs, Care Coordinators, nephrologists) and participating in interdisciplinary meetings to support comprehensive care coordination.
