This position is primarily responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within an assigned unit. The role involves the day-to-day management and supervision of related clinical activities in OB Triage, Labor and Delivery, OB Circulating and Recovery, High Risk OB, and immediate care of the newborn. The Registered Nurse coordinates the plan of care with the client, their family, and the interdisciplinary team. Additionally, the role includes supervising and directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel, utilizing professional discretion and independent judgment. The position requires adherence to the California Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, the ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses, and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for observing and directing patient lifts and mobilization, and participating in patient handling as needed. Proficiency in speaking and reading English is essential for performing the job functions. Knowledge of standard office equipment and personal computer software skills, including proficient use of keyboarding and mouse operations in MS Windows, is required within the first two weeks of employment. The role also involves performing other duties as assigned, following Palomar Health rules, policies, and procedures, and upholding the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
