About The Position

The Clinical Research Nurse will be responsible for responding to patient alerts, assessing patient symptoms, following clinical protocols, documenting findings, plan, outcome in EMR and data collection tools. This role involves obtaining and recording research data in conjunction with physicians and other professionals on the research team; enrolling study subjects, interviewing subjects; reviewing medical records; assisting in planning nursing aspects of medical team research; and completing data collection tools. The nurse will establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and their families, professional or community groups and volunteers, and maintain contact with public agencies involved with aspects of the research. The position requires determining the eligibility of potential study participants, obtaining informed consent, enrolling patients in research protocols, and coordinating all aspects of the patient’s care. The Clinical Research Nurse will explain research protocols to participants, respond to patient inquiries regarding protocols, schedule patient participation, ensure compliance with research protocols, and inform referring physicians of protocol requirements. This role also includes collecting, recording, organizing, transcribing, and verifying the accuracy of research data, coordinating the collection of research data, and creating data collection tools through applications such as REDCap. The nurse will work with administrative staff and research peers, or the Principal Investigator (PI), on Institutional Review Board submissions. The Clinical Research Nurse will communicate with sponsors, auditors, monitoring agencies, and the Institutional Review Board(s) in a timely, accurate, and effective manner. Performs other duties as may be necessary to conduct study and carry out related functions of the Division. This position will cover Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie Counties, requiring reliable transportation and willingness to drive up to 1 hour between clinical locations on weekdays. Some work will be in person, and some will be via telehealth/remote.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Three years of professional nursing experience
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes
  • Reliable mode of transportation
  • Willingness to drive 1+ hour between clinical locations on weekdays

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • 3+ years of experience in obstetrics and/or research, specifically patient recruitment, performing research studies, follow-up visits and maintenance of study records
