About The Position

The Clinical Research Coordinator provides research and support to advance the goals of preclinical, clinical, and translational research programs within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at BC Children’s Hospital. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the role contributes to the planning, coordination, and execution of research and related activities, including study development and oversight, regulatory and ethics submissions, funding and contract processes, and project budget coordination. In addition, this position research documentation and dissemination activities, data and information management, and engagement with patient partners and knowledge translation initiatives. This role is based in person at BC Children’s Hospital, with limited opportunity for remote work.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working in clinical research.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.

Nice To Haves

  • High degree of computer literacy with ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, internet and electronic mail applications at an intermediate level
  • Experience with REDCap and UBC RISe system for research ethics protocols is an asset
  • Familiarity with UBC admin procedures, financial policies and Workday system is an asset
  • Ability to take and transcribe accurate meeting minutes and follow up on action items with ease
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Leads the end-to-end delivery of research projects and knowledge translation of the products of this research, ensuring milestones and targets are met
  • Collaborates with the research team and partners to implement research projects, including developing detailed work plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), consent forms, recruitment documents, REDCap databases, and surveys, to support meeting the objectives of the research project throughout its lifecycle stages findings
  • Manages ethics applications, amendments, and renewals; liaising with ethics boards, and ensuring full compliance with guidelines, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversees research data and related materials in alignment with ethical standards and record management processes
  • Manages data and biospecimen handling, transfers, and confidentiality in accordance with approved protocols and regulations
  • Collaborates with sponsors and healthcare staff to ensure readiness for regulatory audits, inspections, and resolution of findings
  • Manages workflow and data collection to ensure high quality data collection, tracking and management
  • Oversees the standards for recruitment, facilitates screening and informed consent of participants, and responds to inquiries related to on-going research
  • Oversees literature review activities to support study design, contextual analysis, and research reporting
  • Leads orientation and training sessions in relation to data collection, data management, data analysis, and preparation of reports
  • Oversees the financial administration for research projects, including budget development
  • Facilitates preparation of research grants, manuscripts, presentations, posters, reports and newsletters
  • Designs and facilitates processes for communication and collaboration to support the research team and study sites
  • Onboard, train, and provides oversight of research students, research assistants, and volunteers
  • Manages research staffing processes, including development of role descriptions, coordination of recruitment processes, and assessment of candidates in collaboration with hiring leads
  • Performs other related duties as required
