About The Position

This position will coordinate the Clinical Trials and Translational Research Activities for multiple diabetes-related projects that are currently in progress as well as prospective studies. This includes recruiting, screening, and enrolling subjects within and outside of the clinic population at the University of Florida. The primary responsibility of the position will be to serve as a clinical research coordinator for multiple phase II/III Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) clinical trials. With the assistance of other members of the study team, the incumbent will manage patient visits for trials, including source documentation completion, EDC entry, shipment of biological samples, and some regulatory management. The coordinator will work with multiple sponsors to achieve recruitment outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong computer skills (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to communicate verbally and in written correspondence
• Ability to organize a variety of data sources including subject files and computer files and logs efficiently and accurately with meticulous recording, tracking, and reporting skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Patient care experience (RN or LPN preferred)

• Familiar with IRB and other regulatory managements and requirements

Responsibilities

• Conduct Study Research Visits: Obtain patient information in a variety of settings for studies. May perform venipuncture and glucose tolerance testing. Coordinate patient related research data collection and manage sample specimen processing/shipment. Obtain medical history from research patients in a variety of settings. Coordinate patient-related research data collection and management. Oversee the timely scheduling of subjects in the clinical research center (CRC), obtain informed consent, and ensure adherence to study protocol (both nursing staff and patients and their families), and specimen processing/shipment. Communicate with subjects to instruct subject/family in preparation for testing, ensure compliance with study and monitor for side-effects and adverse events. Maintain appropriate stock of study-related study related supplies and ordering as needed.
• Recruitment: The coordinator will independently identify and recruit subjects for research studies across the entire spectrum of the T1D program at UF. Attend camps where necessary, screening events for recruitment and screening purposes. Obtain and arrange transfer of samples from existing Biobanks.
• Administrative/Compliance Responsibilities: Prepare IRB, CRC, and RAC documents for new and ongoing research studies, assess study feasibility, prepare study budgets, prepare and negotiate study contracts, maintain regulatory binders, supervise reimbursement processes, perform internal audits, and mentor junior coordinators. Maintain active collaboration with coordinators and co-investigators, locally, nationally, and internationally. Supervise reimbursement process for assigned research studies. Prepare and update orders, worksheets, checklists, source documents for various research studies, etc. Participate in conference calls and attend meetings both on-site and off-site, as needed.
• Other: Any other duties, as needed, to fulfill the mission and to abide by the values of the College of Medicine, as directed by PI or supervisor.
