About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson is seeking to recruit a highly motivated research professional to join our clinical research coordinator team in a busy and actively enrolling clinical trial operations. This is an opportunity for individuals with a strong passion for neurological clinical research and advancing the field of neurology, preferably with a background of neurology/ neurological research. This position will allow the individual to grow their clinical research skills and apply the acquired knowledge to further their career. Due to the acuity of some of the clinical trials, working on night shifts and weekends is to be expected in a call system. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.
  • Knowledge of University of Arizona research policies, IRB processes, and industry and government sponsorship requirements.
  • Knowledge of clinical research principles, practices, techniques, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, maintain detailed records, and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize effectively, and resolve issues in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong communication, computer, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions and achieve positive outcomes.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, professionalism, and commitment to high-quality, compliant research, with the ability to support program development and policy creation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical experience – highly preferred.
  • Experience with neurological disorders including movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s disease), seizure disorders (e.g., epilepsy syndromes) and vascular neurological disorders.
  • Passion for neurological research and development of treatments for neurological disorders.
  • Research database experience/certification REDCap, iMedidata, EMR experience (CERNER).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with promoting/recruiting research participants for long-term clinical trials.
  • Participate in routine recruitment, screening, and enrollment of study participants who meet research eligibility criteria.
  • Help obtain consent forms for approval by Human Subjects Panel.
  • Maintain and update recruitment and screening materials, compliance forms, and tracking documents.
  • Assist with collecting basic information, such as medical histories and assessments interviews, collect and process specimens, answer general questions, fill out case report forms, and help with telephone and in-person contact.
  • Notifies Principal Investigator and supervisor of subject status.
  • Under the direction of the PI and Senior lab members, assist with new protocol submissions, renewals, and revisions to Institutional Review Board for multiple studies.
  • Aid in the submission of study protocols and amendments, consent forms, and recruiting materials to the Institutional Review Board and department for approval with oversight from supervisor.
  • Provide assistance with collecting data, entering and analyzing data, and compiling reports, adhering to proper research protocols.
  • Prepare basic documentation, reports, graphs, and other materials.
  • Maintain accurate logs, tracks participant information, and prepares study materials.
  • Under direction of the PI and Senior lab members, assist with coordinating and carrying out daily operations including ordering/maintaining laboratory supplies/equipment.
