About The Position

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University conduct clinical trials and clinical studies to discover new ways to prevent and treat diseases and other health problems. We are seeking a Clinical Research Assistant who will provide routine support to the research team by helping implement steps and processes of a clinical research protocol. The Clinical Research Assistant will assist the PI and study team with ongoing research projects in the GYN/OB Division of Reproductive Sciences to facilitate clinical trials that are active and planned in the research Division.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Six months of work experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Advanced clinical hands-on experience in research in gynecologic conditions, particularly endometriosis and uterine fibroids.
  • Scientific training and clinical experience in research studies.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
  • Experience in writing IRB protocols and clinical manuscripts.

Responsibilities

  • Collect study data as required by the protocol, e.g., interviews, surveys, clinical procedures, etc.
  • Perform data entry and organize data in approved systems.
  • Gain and use a basic understanding of the clinical study background and rationale for communication with potential and current participants.
  • Assist with routine contact of study participants.
  • Assist with recruitment and patient enrollment and will assist the PI.
  • Maintain necessary documentation of patient contacts, as required for specific studies and as instructed by the study team.
  • Coordinate patient encounters by calling and getting in touch with patients.
  • Integrate with the principal investigator and study nurse(s) to facilitate and support the studies’ progress and prepare reports, data presentations, and manuscripts, congruent with the mission of the Division.
  • Attend clinical research meetings and assist the PI with IRB reports and documents and preparation and submission of applications for funding and to clinical research sponsors outside of Johns Hopkins.
  • Other duties as assigned.
