We are actively hiring a Lab Technician at the Flourish Research site in Detroit! This is an excellent opportunity for a medical assistant or phlebotomist looking to break into clinical research! The Lab Technician is critical in supporting the Clinical Research Coordinators and the research team in providing an impeccable patient experience in every interaction. Your role will primarily be focused on performing clinical work, more specifically, blood draws, which are a critical diagnostic component of the clinical research process. Other responsibilities may include a variety of tasks, from patient recruitment, source documentation, data entry, and direct patient interaction during site visits.

Requirements

  • Must have 1+ years of Lab Tech experience required
  • Experience as a Phlebotomist
  • Impeccable organizational skills, attention to detail, and people skills, as you will be interacting directly with patients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with the Principal Investigator, CRCs, other members of the research team, Study Sponsor/CROs, potential subjects, and referral sources
  • An ethical compass that compels the candidate to be honest, detail-oriented, and self-driven
  • High-level critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and lab collection/processing/storage procedures
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
  • Clinical research experience is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy, handle and organize specimens, and assist with storage and shipment.
  • Other clinical diagnostic work, such as vital signs, EKGs, etc.
  • Assist in the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of study participants.
  • Coordinate and manage the scheduling of trials and maintain communication with participants.
  • Collect, organize, and process clinical data from trials.
  • Maintain source documentation from patient visits and protocol activities
  • Work alongside clinical research coordinators to conduct patient visits.
  • Learn, understand, and comply with rules and regulations governing medical ethics, IRB, GCP, and ICH guidelines
  • Provide administrative support to research staff by organizing meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
