About The Position

This position involves applying psychological principles and techniques in observation, testing, and patient contact to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals in inpatient or outpatient settings, general or psychiatric hospitals. It may also involve serving as a consultant to local school departments for psychological testing, with a focus on children with physical and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • A working knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of clinical and abnormal psychology, learning theory and research methodology as applied when assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of persons.
  • The ability to administer, score and interpret a wide variety of tests, including projective techniques.
  • The ability to plan, supervise and review the work of psychometrists and other professional assistants.
  • Graduation from a college of recognized standing and attainment of a Master's Degree in Psychology with major emphasis in Clinical and Abnormal Psychology, including courses with laboratory practice in Psychometry.
  • Employment in a position involving the application of psychological principles and techniques, including projective techniques, under competent supervision.
  • Proof of immunity against: Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Varicella (Chickenpox), Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap), Hepatitis B titers, Tuberculin Skin Test (TST), N-95 Respirator FIT test.

Responsibilities

  • Apply psychological principles and techniques in observation, testing, and patient contact to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of persons in an in-patient or out-patient setting, a general or a psychiatric hospital.
  • Serve as a consultant to local school departments in the field of psychological testing.
  • Provide psychological testing services with emphasis on the testing of children with a physical and/or intellectual and developmental disability.
  • Administer, score and interpret a wide variety of tests, including projective techniques such as the Roschach and Thematic Apperception tests.
  • Determine the capacities, interests, abilities and other personality traits of the person.
  • Supervise the work of psychometrists rendering psychological testing services for general use or in a clinic.
  • Participate in conferences which study and evaluate all the evidence presented and plan treatment programs.
  • Assist in the preparation of informational material relative to the rendering of psychological services for dissemination to the public.
  • Help develop and implement research of a psychological nature.
  • Do related work as required.
