Metro-Boston Mental Health Units at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH) is a Department of Mental Health/Department of Public Health hospital with five secure inpatient mental health units. The units house approximately 19 patients each, who often present with complex etiologies including developmental and neurological factors, substance abuse, head injury, cultural and economic factors, and major mental illness. The primary focus of intervention and treatment is risk mitigation and rehabilitation to facilitate community reintegration. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, on the day shift (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday). The Psychologist will function as a member of a clinical team, providing therapy, assessment, and psychological testing on a referral basis, consulting with staff on psychological issues, and performing related duties. The role involves organizing and coordinating services, improving program performance, and providing supervision/consultation to staff and trainees to ensure patient needs for psychological services are met. Psychologists are responsible for supervising and performing diagnostic assessments, risk screenings, specialized clinical risk assessments, and other diagnostic evaluations.
