Clinical Psychologist -- San Jose
About The Position
This role is for a Clinical Psychologist to work full-time in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) within the San Jose region. The position focuses on providing psychological care to an underserved geriatric population, including those with serious mental illness, cognitive decline, medical complexity, trauma, grief, and identity loss. The psychologist will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to improve residents' quality of life, prevent hospitalizations, and reduce behavioral crises. The work is described as impactful, human-centered, and grounded in clinical best practices, with a focus on restoring dignity to residents who may feel invisible.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology
- Licensed in California
- Medicare-eligible (assistance provided with credentialing and paneling)
- Value evidence-based practice and clinical flexibility
- Comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity
- Desire autonomy without isolation, and support without micromanagement
- Curiosity, compassion, and the ability to see the person behind the chart
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities is not required.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals in skilled nursing facilities.
- Provide psychological services to geriatric, disabled, and medically complex populations.
- Manage an active caseload with support from a clinical manager and administrative team.
- Collaborate closely with facility staff, offering consultation, guidance, and in-services.
- Complete documentation aligned with medical necessity and Medicare standards.
- Provide care by meeting residents where they reside, in skilled nursing facilities.
