About The Position

Responsible for providing comprehensive clinical psychological services to inmates in the Sex Offense Program (SOP). Exercises full professional responsibility for his/her findings, interpretations, decisions, recommendations and reports. Responsible for the provision of highly-skilled professional services and serves as a resource person to other psychologists, staff members, and operating officials. Responsible for the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide variety of psychological testing instruments and procedures, including objective instruments of personality assessment, risk assessment instruments and procedures, intelligence and cognitive tests, neuropsychological assessment instruments, and inventories of interest, aptitude, criminality and achievement. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Satisfactory completion of all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level (GS-11) for the GS-12 level.
  • Experience in administering, scoring and interpreting a wide variety of psychological testing instruments and procedures.
  • Experience in planning the course of therapy for psychological problems and developing discharge reports detailing risk assessment considerations.
  • Experience in performing individual and group psychotherapy on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Experience in providing assessment and referral services for staff requesting assistance with problems of alcohol use, drug use, or emotional problems which are affecting job performance.
  • Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
  • Must electronically upload a copy of their license at the time they apply, showing the expiration date.
