About The Position

The University of Denver (DU) is a private institution dedicated to exploration through research and collaboration. The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) is a graduate professional school focused on creating positive change by unleashing the power of learning, with a mission to prepare highly competent, socially responsible, ethical, and caring professionals. The Division of Counseling and Psychology offers accredited graduate programs that train psychologists and counselors in evidence-based, multiculturally oriented practices, promoting social equity and justice. The Counseling and Educational Services Clinic (CESC) is a community clinic serving the Denver-metro area, operating on a live-supervision model with advanced technology and a sliding scale fee structure to ensure accessibility. This position involves teaching masters and doctoral courses, advising students, and providing clinical supervision, alongside administrative responsibilities as the Director of the CESC. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of excellence in teaching, supervision, and clinical work, with experience in inclusive pedagogy.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education & Supervision, Clinical Psychology, or related fields.
  • Licensed mental health professional in the state of Colorado.
  • Demonstration of teaching, supervision, and/or training experience.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate level as demonstrated through a teaching portfolio, prior instructional roles, syllabi, and/or student/peer evaluations.
  • Capacity to advise graduate students.
  • Knowledge and skills to perform administrative functions and to engage students in and outside of courses.
  • Demonstrated commitment, knowledge, and ability to effectively engage individuals from broadly diverse communities.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with peers, divisions, and senior leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, have attention to detail, and work effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Motivated to advance their clinical, teaching, and mentoring efforts to meet the demands of a diversifying mental health field.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical services coordination, administration, and/or management experience.
  • Prior supervision experience.
  • Prior graduate teaching experience.
  • Demonstration of research acumen through publishing and presenting their scholarship.
  • Currently appointed at the Associate or Full Professor rank (any series).
  • Experience with billing.

Responsibilities

  • Teach masters and doctoral courses in counseling psychology.
  • Advise master’s and doctoral students.
  • Serve on division, college, unit, university, and national/international committees.
  • Provide clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral students.
  • Maintain currency in the field through scholarly engagement, conference participation, and/or peer-reviewed contributions.
  • Engage in service, including faculty governance, to the division, MCE, the Unified College of Education and Social Work, and DU.
  • Coordinate Clinic staffing and training.
  • Establish and ensure compliance with Clinic protocols.
  • Manage electronic medical record and billing systems.
  • Supervise Clinic supervisors, staff, and students.
  • Manage and collaborate on research conducted in the Clinic.
  • Coordinate volunteer and outreach opportunities for community engagement.
  • Coordinate advertising and promotion of Clinic services to the community.
  • Support client recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain clinic documentation.
