About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Completion of preceptor class.

Nice To Haves

  • NRP 30 days upon hire preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a teacher and mentor in guiding, directing and supervising technical nursing activities of the nurse preceptee.
  • Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice.
  • Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the preceptee in delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice without assistance to neonates, adolescents and women of child bearing age.
  • Utilizes the chain of command when necessary to ensure patient well-being and appropriateness of care to babies and mothers during the ante partum and post partum periods.
