About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. Requirements

Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Completion of preceptor class.

Nice To Haves

NRP 30 days upon hire preferred.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

Functions as a teacher and mentor in guiding, directing and supervising technical nursing activities of the nurse preceptee.
Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice.
Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.
Responsible for the oversight of the preceptee in delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice without assistance to neonates, adolescents and women of child bearing age.
Utilizes the chain of command when necessary to ensure patient well-being and appropriateness of care to babies and mothers during the ante partum and post partum periods.
