The Clinical Supervisor role involves operational and clinical oversight, managing the daily activities of the clinical staff within the department.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or above.
  • Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Maintains current certification by one of the following agencies: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Health Career Association (NHA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Two (2) years of related experience required.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet development, and presentation skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and supervisory skills required.
  • Knowledge of medical practice protocols and standards.
  • Skilled in documentation of patient care including reviewing for accuracy and completeness.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of clinical staff within the department, including personnel supervision, compliance with policies and procedures, facility management, patient scheduling, and business-related reporting.
  • Participates in hiring, supervision, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions for assigned team members.
  • Acts as a resource for the service line Assistant Vice President, Director of Operations, and/or Operations Manager.
  • Collaborates with the service line Clinical Operations Manager or Director of Nursing to ensure clinical quality and standardization.
  • Manages operations to provide physician clients with the most efficient and cost-effective clinical operation.
  • Schedules staffing to meet changing workload needs.
  • Identifies training needs for team members and facilitates development opportunities, including evaluation of training, implementation, orientation, and participation in education programs.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with standards, laws, regulations, and procedures. Recommends new and/or revised policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes medical records and documentation to identify problem areas.
  • Collaborates effectively with physicians and administrative staff.
  • Assists physicians with the creation of strategies for efficiency and growth of the practice.
  • Provides management reports to physicians and administration for review, practice planning, practice marketing, and completes practice development.
  • Provides department-level orientation to new team members, including system software, telephone processes and protocols, office equipment usage, departmental policies and procedures, customer service expectations, job competencies, and coaching plans.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Educates and supervises clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Provides necessary documentation relating to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of data and information.
  • Functions as a member of the medical office management team.
  • Other clinical tasks/duties as needed.
