The Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for collaborating with managers and staff of the Pharmacy to optimize clinical and operational pharmacy services as the service line leader for the high-risk, critically ill surgical/trauma population. Spartanburg Medical Center (SMC) is a 540-bed research and teaching community-based hospital. It is the anchor hospital for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, a not-for-profit integrated healthcare delivery system with six hospital campuses. SMC is a Level I trauma center, serving as a trauma and tertiary referral center for seven different counties across the Upstate of South Carolina and Southwestern North Carolina. The Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for providing direct patient care by proactively impacting pharmacotherapeutic decisions through interdisciplinary collaboration in the 22-bed surgical trauma ICU (STICU) unit. In addition, the Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for contributing to the educational initiatives of the health-system including, but not limited to, staff development and student and resident precepting. The Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will also be responsible for managing quality improvement and research projects in the area of specialty.
