About The Position

VytlOne is currently seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our growing Specialty Pharmacy in Lubbock, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a Pharmacist to make a positive impact in the lives of the patients we care for, with a devoted pharmacy operations team. Provides educational and consultant services in the field of pharmacology and drug therapy to clients, members and professional staff, reviews prescription prior authorizations and enters plan design setup and changes in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00to 5:00pm. May be required to work rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends, night, and on-call.

Requirements

  • At-least one-year clinical pharmacy experience.
  • One to two years' experience in the managed care and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) industries.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy required.
  • Must be licensed in, and in good standing, Texas.
  • Ability to organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Good computer skills in general with the ability to learn new software programs and applications
  • Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or the general public.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • General knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Review non-formulary drug requests using predetermined criteria.
  • Review prior authorization requests using predetermined criteria and other medication resources.
  • Maintain current knowledge of drug therapies and drug reactions and interactions by reading professional literature, attending seminars and through professional affiliations.
  • Provides drug information to meet the needs of medical and nursing staff members through direct contact or in-service programs.
  • Prepare drug reviews, agendas, and other required materials for Pharmacy & Therapeutic (P&T) Committee meetings as assigned.
  • Participate as an active member and serve as Secretary of assigned P&T Committees.
  • Prepare provider newsletters or articles to keep providers updated.
  • Communicate P&T committee/plan formulary changes, recommendations, quantity limitations and other clinical initiatives internally (i.e., systems, operations, account managers, customer service) and as otherwise instructed.
  • Work with plan medical directors and staff in developing and carrying out various clinical initiatives.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and management of formularies, preferred drug lists prior authorization criteria and step therapy protocols.
  • Generate and review standard monthly reports, quarterly physician report cards, and monthly prior authorization reports.
  • Contact and confer with pharmacists and physicians regarding questions or irregularities on prescriptions.
  • Attend and participate in other programs, committees, meetings, and functions as required.
  • Assist the Director of MaxorPlus Clinical Operations in the development of clinical, utilization management, ad hoc and production reports and programs.
  • Assist in formulary, rebate analyses and pharmacy of economic studies and initiatives.
  • Assist in plan set-ups regarding formularies, quantity limits, prior authorizations for on-line adjudication and help compile a summary of drug coverage.
  • Work with internal and contracted clinical pharmacists in the development, implementation, and coordination of physician and patient educational materials and programs.
  • Perform retrospective drug utilization review: identify drug, physician and patient utilization trends; make interventions as appropriate via letters, phone calls, meetings, educational programs, mail order intervention programs; monitor and document outcomes.
  • Assist in the generation, maintenance and distribution of formulary alternative lists, maintenance drug lists, and new drug to market lists.
  • Assist plans with coordination and preparation of HEDIS information/measurements.
  • Assist Account Managers as needed in the generation of Annual or Quarterly Plan Benefit Review Summary and Recommendation Reports.
  • Assist Account Managers as needed to address client requests or issues.
  • Assist in the development of one drug/disease state implementation and at least one drug savings program per quarter.
  • Assist with managing clinical compliance with CMS Part D program requirements.
  • Perform CAP analysis as assigned on a monthly basis. Make recommendations, continue to monitor and document on a monthly basis.
  • Work with Account Managers in obtaining approval of client regarding patient and physician notices, education materials, etc.
  • Assist in the review of new drugs entering market and potential implication of drug costs and report the findings to management and coordinating necessary changes such as adding to new to market lists, PA lists, quantity limit lists, “Me Too List”, etc.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Program.
  • Assist Director of MaxorPlus Clinical Operations in overseeing clinical associates and administrative procedures.
  • Ensure procedures are in place for Clinical Associates.
  • Assist Director of MaxorPlus Clinical Operations in the coordination of proprietary clinical software and interface with IT staff.
  • Prepare and coordinate distribution of member and client clinical communication materials.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
  • Comply with VytlOne’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and VytlOne’s Compliance Program.
  • Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
  • Complete required training and ensure the departmental staff training is completed as required.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Ensure staff is informed of product upgrades or enhancements in a timely manner.
  • Develop and mentor departmental staff by providing career coaching; motivate departmental staff, individually and as a group; understand and support diversity; and establish an effective team.
  • Promote teamwork; discipline staff when warranted.
