The inpatient pharmacy team at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital (Royal Oak) is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. This team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients, overseeing medication storage, distribution, and management in various settings. Key activities include reviewing medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately preparing and dispensing medications, providing evidence-based drug information, monitoring drug levels to optimize therapy, and educating patients and families about their medications. The primary goal is to prioritize medication safety, minimize adverse events, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to overall well-being. The Clinical Pharmacist provides Pharmaceutical Care according to professional and departmental standards and statutory requirements, offering safe, effective, rational, and cost-conscious pharmacotherapeutic recommendations through the department's medication management programs. This role also involves assisting in supervising Pharmacy Technicians and Interns, participating in department-directed medication management activities, demonstrating good judgment and decisiveness, maintaining current pharmaceutical practice knowledge, and committing to professional growth. Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacist supports management by providing oversight, guidance, and support for assigned areas, and participates in the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of new programs and activities.
