The Clinical Pharmacist at Atrium Health Pharmacy Pavilion is a full-time position responsible for overseeing pharmaceutical care. This includes retrieving and evaluating biomedical literature, designing medication therapy regimens, and using effective patient education techniques for counseling patients and caregivers. The role involves designing, recommending, monitoring, and evaluating patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens, implementing recommendations, and documenting them appropriately. The pharmacist will review and interpret medication orders and prescriptions, participate in medical emergencies, and actively support medication safety and quality improvement activities. They will also perform quality assurance and performance improvement of the medication-use system, collaborate with the healthcare team on formulary adherence and medication-use processes, and assist in acquiring non-formulary, compassionate use, and investigational medications. Practice must comply with organizational policies, procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations. The pharmacist will prepare, dispense, and oversee the proper storage and handling of medications. Additionally, the role includes serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students, residents, and healthcare learners, and mentoring, orienting, training, and assisting with performance evaluations of pharmacy teammates. The Clinical Pharmacist will direct and check the accuracy of pharmacy support team members' work to ensure safe and efficient workflows, service standards, and regulatory compliance. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
