Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
  • A current, active license in the state residing in.
  • Must obtain a NJ state license within 180 days of hire.
  • 2+ years of experience in pharmacy distribution and packaging.
  • Exposure to geriatrics and/or chronic care management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical and computer skills to navigate proprietary and other pharmacy software.
  • Initiative to propose suggestions to improve operations and proprietary system development and enhancements.
  • Demonstrated experience with problem-solving, conflict resolution, and project management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to work with a sense of urgency, under pressure, multi-task, and achieve deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Strong analytical skills with good clinical judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently identify and rectify medication-related problems.
  • Ability to assess patients using verbal and/or visual cues, when appropriate.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations, including HIPAA and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.

  • Experience or strong interest in clinical pharmacogenomics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for patients, families, other pharmacists, clients, and healthcare providers to address medication-related problems, other health issues, and answer questions regarding pharmacotherapy, dispensing, and suggestions.
  • Explain care plan options, medication usage, side effects, and contraindications verbally and/or via written records stored in proprietary software.
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care decisions, actions, and coding/billing using proprietary software.
  • Ensure accurate, efficient, timely, and compliant medication distribution and fulfillment for patients using proprietary software.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for assessing, compounding, packaging, and labeling medications according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
  • Oversee Pharmacy Technicians to ensure appropriate medication reconciliation, physician order entry, inventory management, medication storage and security, and medication labeling and packaging, adhering to company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide timely review, preparation/compounding, and final approval for prescription orders and dispensed medications, ensuring correct drug, dosage form, directions, quantity, days’ supply, refills, and packaging/labeling, including ancillary warnings, are entered into the patient profile and dispensed correctly.
  • Ensure proper and compliant billing and record keeping of medications dispensed and shipped.
  • Use professional judgment to provide timely, accurate, and appropriate pharmaceutical care, assessing new medication requests and refills, and making recommendations to care providers to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures for pharmacy practice.
  • Report and work to rectify or prevent incidents of Quality Assurance issues, HIPAA violations, Fraud, Waste, and Abuse, or other problems/violations.
