The Clinical Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to patients consistent with the goals and objectives of the hospital and pharmacy department. The role includes reviewing medication orders for appropriateness, including drug, dose, and frequency, and identifying and resolving or escalating medication-related problems such as potential allergic reactions, drug interactions, and patient safety risks. The pharmacist also oversees supportive personnel working in the area and contributes their knowledge and experience to assess and improve patient care. The role may allow remote work at the manager or supervisor’s discretion based on departmental needs; however, the posting states that this position is not eligible for remote work and requires onsite work at a Children’s Mercy location. The pharmacist prepares and dispenses medication orders according to established policies, procedures, and protocols; ensures medication therapy is safe, appropriate, and cost effective; contributes to effective department operations; and maintains competence for the position. Seasonal influenza vaccination is a condition of employment. New employees must be willing to receive specified vaccinations if found non-immune or lacking evidence of vaccination; medical and religious exemptions may be discussed with Human Resources.
