This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The Pharmacist is responsible for improving therapeutic outcomes for the patients through safe, rational and cost-effective pharmaceutical care, education, and research. The Pharmacist collaborates with members of the health care team to provide accurate and timely pharmacy services. The Pharmacist maintains competency in drug therapy and disease-state management. The Pharmacist independently manages Medical Center approved Pharmacy regulated therapies and participates in Pharmacy clinical intervention program. The Pharmacist provides drug information to Physicians, Nurses, and other health care workers to improve the quality of medication prescribing and administration. The Pharmacists directs the work of ancillary pharmacy personnel. The Pharmacist educates patients and families to improve compliance with drug therapy. Responsible for Pharmacy operations in the medication use process. Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care. Demonstrates leadership skills that positively contribute to the Medical Center. Understands and applies all applicable laws and regulations. Educates oneself and trains/ educates students and new staff. Supports the direction and initiatives of the Department of Pharmacy. Other duties as assigned.
