About The Position

United Hospital Corewell Health is a community hospital in Greenville, Michigan, with 49 acute-care beds and 39 long-term-care beds. It provides patients with access to physician specialists, clinical quality, state-of-the-art facilities, and advanced medical and information technology. United Hospital is also a member of Partner in Children’s Health through Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and has earned national recognition. This part-time Clinical Pharmacist position will provide support to the Greenville Cancer Center as well as Greenville inpatient pharmacy operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • 2 years of relevant experience in hospital pharmacy
  • LIC-Clinical Pharmacist - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
  • LIC-Pharmacist Controlled Substance - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required

Nice To Haves

  • American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency in Pharmacy Practice
  • Ideal candidates will be a Pharmacist possessing a PharmD Degree
  • Ideal candidate will possess Oncology experience or PGY2 in Oncology

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accountability for ensuring the safety and efficacy of medication use.
  • Educates and acts as a consultant to patients/family and members of the health care team related to optimal drug therapy.
  • Participates in process improvement activities and drug use evaluations.
  • Works with multiple medication automation systems.
  • Interprets and screens medication orders for appropriate agent, dose, route, allergies, and potential drug interactions.
  • Safely compounds and dispenses medications for administration to patients.
  • Evaluates patients, orders appropriate laboratory tests, and interprets serum drug levels utilizing pharmacokinetic principles.
  • Provides prescribers with dosage regimen recommendations to optimize therapeutic outcomes, reduce patient risk, and monitor the costs associated with drug therapy.
  • Provides appropriate supervision and direction within appropriate skill level to technicians, residents, interns, and other support personnel.
  • Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain professional competence, knowledge, and skills.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department and Spectrum Health specific requirements.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients/family/significant others/members of the health care team to optimize outcomes and appropriate use of medications.
  • Ensures that services are provided in accordance with State and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements.
