About The Position

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to practice at the highest level of pharmacy within a collaborative, multidisciplinary oncology environment. This role offers significant autonomy and influence, allowing you to shape clinical programs, contribute to formulary decisions, develop medication-use processes, and serve as a trusted resource to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and organizational leaders.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred; Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy required
  • Current and unrestricted New Mexico Pharmacist License required
  • Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) preferred, or ability to obtain specialty certification within 24 months of hire
  • Adult Oncology Residency preferred
  • Extensive experience in Adult Oncology preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of oncology therapies, treatment protocols, and medication management
  • Experience with formulary management, medication-use evaluations, and clinical program development
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience developing policies, protocols, order sets, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, and patient-centered care

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical pharmacy expert for Adult Oncology, providing advanced pharmaceutical care and evidence-based medication management to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Lead formulary management activities, including preparation of drug monographs, medication-use evaluations, treatment protocols, and order set recommendations.
  • Partner with Pharmacy Leadership and health system stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement innovative clinical pharmacy services and initiatives.
  • Support medication safety, quality improvement, and performance optimization efforts through data analysis, clinical monitoring, and process improvement activities.
  • Provide education and drug information to patients, caregivers, providers, and pharmacy staff to promote safe and effective medication use.
  • Assist in managing medication shortages, evaluating medication-related events, and developing strategies to maintain continuity of care.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of pharmacy policies, clinical pathways, and best practices across the health system.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for pharmacy students and residents while supporting orientation and ongoing staff development initiatives.
  • Participate in Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committees and multidisciplinary workgroups, helping guide medication-use decisions and organizational pharmacy strategy.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance, quality standards, and documentation requirements while supporting departmental and organizational goals.
  • Build strong partnerships across departments and provide leadership in advancing pharmaceutical care, operational excellence, and patient-centered outcomes.
