Shape medication-use decisions that reach far beyond a single patient encounter. As a Clinical Pharmacist on UVA Health’s Medication Use Strategy team, you will help solve complex medication challenges and translate clinical evidence, operational realities, and stakeholder input into safer, more effective medication practices across the health system. This opportunity is designed for an experienced pharmacist who enjoys strategic problem-solving, project leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Rather than focusing on routine order verification or direct patient care, you will influence formulary strategy, medication utilization, shortage response, committee governance, and implementation across inpatient, ambulatory, infusion, and specialty environments. No two days are exactly alike in this highly visible, project-driven position. You will work across UVA Health to evaluate medication-use questions, identify optimization opportunities, coordinate decisions, and move initiatives from recommendation through implementation. Your primary service-line focus will include ambulatory care, infusion centers, Hematology/Oncology, and related outpatient clinical areas. In an average day, you may prepare for a pharmacy committee, address an urgent drug shortage, analyze an infusion-center utilization question, or bring clinical and operational partners together around a system-wide improvement. You will balance planned strategic work with emerging medication needs, making flexibility, organization, and sound clinical judgment essential.
