About The Position

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Clinical Patient Access Specialist (MA) for our Heart and Vascular Institute. This is a Full-Time role, 40 hours per week, First Shift. The role is remote once fully trained, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required. An active Medical Assistant certification/registration is required. The Clinical Patient Access Specialist is primarily responsible for relaying reviewed normal, expected, or abnormal results to patients. They will manage a large volume of inbound calls, identifying, documenting, and communicating pertinent medical information and care needs to the provider. The role requires creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other callers, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in all interactions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Medical Assistant Certification
  • One year of experience in area of certification in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Relay reviewed normal, expected, or abnormal results to patients.
  • Manage large amounts of inbound calls, identifying, documenting, and communicating pertinent medical information and care needs to the provider.
  • Create a positive impression with patients, family members, and other callers.
  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in every encounter.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Comply with scheduling of patients and release of medical information processes to stay compliant with OSHA/CLIA/HIPAA.
  • Accurate documentation in the EMR.
  • Provide instructions and results to patients under the direction of providers.
  • Communicate with offices about any patient concerns/issues related to results.
  • Schedule appointments for patients based on office scheduling preference cards and/or decision trees.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with team members, medical practice members, and leadership.
  • Verify and update all patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Provide information and communicate effectively to resolve issues with patients, providers, other associates, management, and insurance companies.
  • Advise patients of outstanding balances.
  • Ensure accurate and timely distribution of patient requests.
  • Work with the central billing office and physicians/clinicians as needed in a timely manner on all requests.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
