Clinical Outcomes Specialist - Surgical Urology & Orthopedics
About The Position
The Clinical Outcomes Specialist at MD Anderson Cancer Center identifies quality improvement opportunities, analyzes patient outcomes, and supports the delivery of high quality, patient centered care. This role partners with the interprofessional team to coordinate care across the continuum, improve processes, and enhance clinical outcomes for complex patient populations. The Surgical Urology/Orthopedic unit is a 32-bed unit for an adult patient population. This fast-paced environment has rapid turnover for surgical procedures, which include postoperative prostatectomy, cystectomy, penectomy, nephrectomy, and orthopedic surgeries. Unique postoperative care of hemipelvectomy, flap monitoring, and testicular cancer surgeries are also managed on this unit. The team uses an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care. Integrated in our nursing practice are tools used to maximize the skills of team members to achieve optimal outcome and improved healthcare quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Master’s Degree in a healthcare field
- Five years of clinical nursing experience
- Three years of oncology nursing experience
- Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Certification in quality or specialty focused area
Nice To Haves
- Master’s Degree in Quality
- Three years of oncology nursing experience with a preferred advanced degree
- Two years of charge nurse experience
- Two years of previous leadership experience
Responsibilities
- Identify quality and process improvement opportunities
- Lead and collaborate with the interprofessional team in planning, delivery, and evaluation of patient focused care
- Coordinate and integrate care across the continuum for assigned patient populations
- Analyze patient data and outcomes to drive improvements in care delivery
- Other duties as assigned
