Clinical Optometrist (O.D)
About The Position
Matrix Providers is seeking a Clinical Optometrist (O.D.) to join their team of medical professionals in Knoxville, TN. This role involves conducting one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exams. The optometrist will review medical history, conduct comprehensive eye exams to evaluate for vision loss, glaucoma, eye injuries, and potentially perform Visual Field Testing. All documentation will be completed electronically through a web-based examination form, and completed exams will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations. Requirements
- Actively hold valid and unrestricted licensure as an Optometrist.
- Be a qualified licensed Optometrist.
- Have an active and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing situations.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- All on-site staff and contractors must be fully vaccinated per CDC and state guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Prior VA or compensation exam experience is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exams.
- Review pertinent medical history documentation.
- Provide non-treatment compensation and pensions exams for Veterans.
- Capture exam responses through a web-based examination form.
- Complete all documentation electronically.
- Perform comprehensive eye exams to evaluate for loss of vision, glaucoma, injury to the eye, etc.
- Conduct Visual Field Testing if required.

- Hourly position, paid bi-weekly.
- Flexible PRN/Part-Time schedule, 1-4 days per month.
