We are seeking a Clinical Operations Supervisor to directly supervise Endoscopy Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Technicians and a Supply Chain Associate's during specified shifts, facilitating staff and departmental efficiencies while monitoring the clinic’s daily operations to ensure that appropriate quality and productivity levels are achieved and the appropriate supplies and equipment are ordered and maintained. Ensures compliance with infection control policies and AAMI, AORN, and Joint Commission standards. Assures compliance with infection control, sterilization and high level disinfection standards, ensuring that sterilization and high level disinfection practices and all equipment used for decontamination and sterilization meet quality standards. Assists staff with performance improvement. Supervisory responsibilities include staff selection, orientation/onboarding, performance evaluation, counseling, and staff development.

Requirements

  • Work requires a bachelor’s degree in biology, physiology, psychology, or a related scientific field.
  • Three to four years of clinical technical experience to gain expertise in the principles, theories, procedures, and equipment in the Endoscopy field.
  • Current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician through an accredited organization (CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Tech, HSPA, or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician CBSPD).
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Working knowledge of sterile techniques, infection control procedures, and safety precautions applicable to work performed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and supervises the work of assigned staff to ensure smooth workflow in the department. Schedules staff in accordance with department needs.
  • Acts as a knowledge resource to staff in matters of department processes, technical skills, equipment, supplies and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Selects, trains, and manages the performance of staff. Provides daily direction to staff.
  • Sets goals for individuals and for the team. Acts as a mentor and coach and provides development and growth opportunities for staff.
  • Coordinate and maintain departmental workflow in decontamination, the inspection of instruments/trays, cleaning, assembling, and packaging of surgical instruments, medical/surgical materials/supplies, and equipment.
  • Monitors inventory of supplies and equipment. Coordinate procurement and stocking activities.
  • Analyze usage patterns of supplies and recommend optimal par levels. Assists in developing goals, targets, and action plans.
  • Facilitates the timely ordering of instrumentation and supplies.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost reduction and expense control.
  • Provides management with information for forecasting future instrumentation/equipment needs.
  • Track and document lost or damaged equipment and supplies.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve work processes and enables achievement of goals in quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides a forum for staff involvement in problem identification and resolution.
  • Develops and implements solutions to address opportunities to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Oversight for the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, maintenance, and preventative maintenance, and high-level disinfection of all reusable medical instrumentation.
  • Participate in the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and disinfection of scope trays and equipment following established tray lists and manufacturer's recommendations as needed.
