About The Position

The Clinical Operations Specialist II provides advanced clinical and administrative support within a centralized Clinical Operations Pool, partnering closely with providers and interdisciplinary care teams to deliver efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care. Building upon foundational responsibilities, this role incorporates protocol-driven clinical support consistent with a Medical Assistant scope of practice, helping to enhance care delivery and team effectiveness. Serving as a key point of contact for patients, the Clinical Operations Specialist II ensures professional, courteous communication while managing appointment scheduling and supporting care coordination across multiple channels, including phone, secure messaging, and the electronic health record (EHR). The role contributes to streamlined clinical operations through accurate documentation, management of InBasket and secure chat workflows, and support of billing-related processes. In addition, the Clinical Operations Specialist II coordinates essential operational and patient care activities, including insurance verification, medication refill requests, prior authorizations, and durable medical equipment (DME) orders. The position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and flow of medical information by organizing patient records and ensuring timely routing of messages and requests to appropriate providers and clinical staff. Working collaboratively with Practice Managers, Clinical Coordinators, and care teams, the Clinical Operations Specialist II provides flexible, higher-level support across clinical settings, promoting continuity of care, operational efficiency, and an elevated patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a hospital or medical clinic environment.
  • Experience includes both administrative/operational support and direct patient care (e.g., Medical Assistant responsibilities).
  • Proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree and/or graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification is strongly preferred.
