About The Position

The Mail Order Pharmacist manages accessibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness of drug and medical therapy for members and providers. This position focuses on initiating, supporting, and continuing cost-effective, rational drug, and disease therapy, utilizing distinct but inter-related management and cross-departmental functions.

Requirements

  • PharmD and 3+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 1 year of SME in respective areas
  • Proficient in windows-based programs.
  • Must be currently licensed with the Nebraska Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
  • Ability to perform quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability effectively utilize Microsoft office
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and dispense prescriptions in Mail Order setting.
  • Focuses on performing Pharmacist duties to support a team of Pharmacy techs, warehouse workers, and packing specialists who ship out approximately 3000 scripts per day.
  • Contact patients, providers, or pharmacies regarding prescriptions.
  • Transfer prescriptions to/from other pharmacies.
  • Research drug literature to provide clinical recommendations to practitioners as needed.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage and answer drug related questions.
  • Assist the clinical department with projects as they arise.
  • Clinically review requests for medications as part of a Prior Authorization Program.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of changes in pharmacy practices, laws and drugs. Application of this knowledge in the performance of daily activities is also necessary.
  • This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written).
