About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services and pharmaceutical care to patients, practicing under the direction of pharmacy leadership and professional pharmacy standards. This role involves providing information about medication therapy to healthcare providers, patients, and families in both formal and informal settings. The Clinical Pharmacist will also participate in the education and training of staff pharmacists, resident physicians, patient care personnel, and pharmacy students. They will interact positively with clinical practitioners and may serve in a supervisory role when assigned or in the absence of supervisory personnel. Key personal characteristics include flexibility, attention to detail, initiative, cooperation, and a commitment to continuing education. Strong communication and interactive skills, both oral and written, a results-oriented approach, and the ability to function effectively in team settings are essential. This individual must be capable of providing pharmaceutical care for neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient age groups. The role also requires supporting the Ballad Health Mission, Vision, and Values and a commitment to improving care quality through Performance Improvement Initiatives.

Requirements

• Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council for Pharmaceutical Education.
• Documented recent experience and proficiency in delineated skills.
• Experience should include clinical consultations/review and medication usage evaluation for patients of all age groups.
• Demonstrated proficiency and experience in nutrition support and pharmacokinetic dosing.
• Capabilities/knowledge exhibited in the use of related information systems hardware/software.
• Demonstration/documentation of positive interactive skills with other healthcare providers (physicians, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists).
• Must hold or be eligible for licensure by the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy (Licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire date).
• BLS required.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required based upon assigned job duties.

Nice To Haves

• PharmD degree is desirable.
• Previous completion of an appropriate or related residency or fellowship is preferred.
• Consideration will be given to pharmacists with the following experience in lieu of completion of residency or fellowship: Attainment of Board Certification status in Pharmacotherapy plus minimum of 2 years fulltime clinical experience in a similar setting OR 5 or more years of fulltime clinical/clinical focused experience in a similar setting.
• Previous experience/proficiency in the provision of education and training for pharmacy students and residents is desirable.
