About The Position

The clinical pharmacist at the University of Toledo Medical Center provides a consistently high level of clinical services to ensure optimal comprehensive patient care for a specific patient population. This role involves facilitating the implementation of policies, procedures, and staff development programs that promote desirable patient outcomes using safe, cost-effective drug therapies. Clinical pharmacists also precept, mentor, and educate students, residents, pharmacists, and other health care professionals. Responsibilities include core pharmacy services, assisting in pharmacy department management, and coordinating daily clinical pharmacy services. Specifically, this position manages the pharmaceutical care of oncology patients at The University of Toledo Medical Center, Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center, and affiliated cancer sites. The clinical oncology pharmacist is responsible for coordinating daily pharmacy services and ensuring optimal clinical services for all oncology patients, as well as facilitating the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems for safe, cost-effective drug therapies.

Requirements

  • Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Registered to practice pharmacy in the State of Ohio or eligible for licensure
  • BLS Certification
  • Meet ASHP preceptor qualifications within 12 months of hire
  • Experience in providing written and oral drug information with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret policies, procedures and regulations, develop appropriate conclusions, and prepare reports
  • Self-directed, motivated and capable of leading supportive personnel
  • Possess the ability to resolve conflicts and respond appropriately to complaints
  • Able to work well with the public and other health professionals
  • Able to train, evaluate and supervise professional and technical personnel and staff
  • Demonstrate and utilize effective interpersonal and culturally appropriate communications

Nice To Haves

  • Formal clinical training is preferred through a PGY1 and PGY2 residency, fellowship, or 3 years of clinical practice
  • Board certification preferred or required within 2 years of hire
