About The Position

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Clinical Office Assistant for our Cardiology department within the Heart and Vascular Institute in Edgewood. This position provides customer-focused service and support to patient flow in a unit based setting. The role may involve various duties depending on departmental operations, including patient registration, scheduling, billing, assisting with pre-certification, managing medical records, data entry, and answering phones. The Clinical Office Assistant is responsible for routine problem resolution, patient flow coordination, and initiating follow-up with appropriate staff. This role also ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality, such as HIPAA. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues, regardless of cultural background.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Medical terminology
  • Computer fluency/literacy
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Organization and prioritization skills
  • 1 year of experience in an office front desk type role, healthcare registration, scheduling or other patient-facing healthcare positions.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy and confidentiality, i.e., HIPAA laws.
  • Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
