About The Position

Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with nursing care standards. The role provides specialized care and education for outpatient oncology and hematology patients, as well as patients receiving non-oncology infusions. The Outpatient Cancer Center administers medications, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products intravenously.

The position is part-time, 24 hours per week, working 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday with various start times. It is located at 3009 North Ballas Road, Town & Country MoBap Campus. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to remain alert and work safely.

Requirements

• Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Less than two years of experience.
• Previous oncology experience.
• Chemo certification.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
• Plan proactively and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patients' physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to participation in care, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
