About The Position

Works with the Director of Nursing (DON) and the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to ensure QCC is compliant with state and federal regulations. Supervises QCC CNAs, including evaluations and corrective action. Develops and administers in-service and training programs for nursing staff. Provides resident and family-focused care. Upholds the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrates understanding and compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct, and work rules.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of typical office technologies such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and typical office software.

  • Knowledge of long-term care state and federal regulations.

  • Ability to manage their time and organize their work to ensure efficient performance.

  • Accredited Post-secondary program or Associate’s Degree in Registered Nursing or Nursing.

  • Alaska RN License and Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide CNA oversight, including identifying training needs and resolving issues.
  • Counsel staff on performance issues before escalating to the level of ADON and/or DON.
  • With the assistance of HR, develop corrective action plans for staff when necessary, according to the Employee Handbook.
  • Complete employee evaluations in consultation with the DON and/or ADON.
  • Ensures completion of nursing and CNA competency checklists.
  • Maintains CNA in-service for recertification.
  • Assess, plan, coordinate and render skilled professional nursing care to residents.
  • Audit charts for proper documentation including but not limited to orders, residents’ weights, vital signs, nursing and CNA care plans, nursing and CNA documentation of resident cares, and notification of residents’ representative when required.
  • Audit the restorative notes, CNA plan of care and ensure that nursing, dietary, social services, therapy, activities, pharmacy and physicians have completed their monthly/quarterly summaries.
  • Monitor education needs and conduct ongoing staff education, including continuing education units, to ensure state and federal regulations for topics such as resident safety, transfers, documentation, confidentiality, and resident rights.
