The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for Cardiac Specialty Care Unit (CSCU) in Cardiology Acute Care, working 0.6 FTE, adheres to the clinical nurse specialist core competencies as defined by the National Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Competency Task Force and recognized by the American Nurses Association (ANA). The CNS practices through 3 spheres of influence, including the patient, unit/department, and the organization. This role provides leadership, clinical expertise, education, program development, and consultation to promote the standards of nursing practice. The CNS works collaboratively with leadership to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients/populations, and evaluate nursing interventions to achieve optimal nursing practice outcomes. This role also facilitates problem-solving and decision-making to influence the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient, as well as unit/department goals.
