About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) adheres to the core competencies defined by the National Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Competency Task Force and recognized by the American Nurses Association (ANA). The CNS practices through 3 spheres of influence: patient, unit/department, and organization. They provide leadership, clinical expertise, education, program development, and consultation to promote nursing practice standards. The CNS collaborates with leadership to develop patient care criteria, assess patient/population health needs, and evaluate nursing interventions for optimal outcomes. They facilitate problem-solving and decision-making to influence the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient and unit/department goals.

Requirements

Master's or higher in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of three (3) years RN experience.
Current Washington State or Multistate (MSL) RN license.
Current Washington state Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP-CS) license.
Certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and must be maintained at all times.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
Pediatric Emergency, Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers.
PALS Certification at time of hire or within 3 months of hire and must be maintained at all times thereafter for nurses working in the following areas: Emergency Department, Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), Cardiac Intensive Care (CICU), Critical Care Float Pool, Recovery Room (PACU), Operating Room (OR), Interventional Radiology (IR), Pediatric Transport Control, Pediatric Critical Care Transport, Bellevue Surgery Center, and Cath Lab & Special Procedures.
PEARS (or PALS - if required by role) Instructor Certification at time of hire or within 12 months of hire and must be maintained at all times thereafter.
