About The Position

Avista is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Positive Behaviour Support for the Limerick Region. This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week) within a specialist multidisciplinary team. The role involves providing specialist nursing input to individuals with complex needs, utilizing evidence-based practices and person-centred principles. The successful candidate will work alongside an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and other Clinical Nurse Specialists in Positive Behaviour Support within the Limerick/Roscrea service area.

Requirements

  • Registration with the Intellectual Disability Division of the Register of Nurses held by NMBI.
  • Maintained annual registration with the NMBI.
  • A minimum of five years’ post-registration experience, of which two must be in the specialist area of Positive Behaviour Support and Intellectual Disability.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and effective caseload management skills.
  • Ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling professional responsibilities within their scope of practice.
  • Have successfully completed a level 9 post-registration QQI national qualification relevant to the specialist area (Positive Behaviour Support and Intellectual Disability) or be prepared to undertake the required postgraduate education at level 9 qualification relevant to the specialist area as candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Competent and possess an in-depth knowledge and experience of the Microsoft suite.
  • Knowledgeable of The Health Act 2007 and HIQA regulations.
  • Full clean manual Irish driving licence with access to own transport.
  • Proficiency in the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist nursing input to a defined caseload of supported individuals with complex and diverse needs.
  • Utilize evidence-based specialist nursing skills and person-centred principles.
  • Work alongside an ANP in the specialist area and with other CNS in PBS within the Service area of Limerick/Roscrea.
  • Practice safely and effectively, fulfilling professional responsibilities within the scope of practice.
