About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing. The primary roles of the Clinical Nurse Specialist include: practitioner, educator, leader, consultant and researcher. Within each role the Clinical Nurse Specialist uses problem solving strategies and the nursing process to improve outcomes. S/he works collaboratively with the staff and managers to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients, and evaluate outcomes of nursing interventions. The time spent in each of the role components varies with patient population, unit and department needs and organizational priorities. This position has system wide responsibility; CNS staff are required to have transportation to be available at all Swedish Medical Center locations as needed. Demonstrates advanced capabilities and knowledge in assessment, diagnoses, treatment and evaluation of an identified population or high risk group to facilitate optimal outcomes. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence based practice standards for patient care. Works collaboratively with appropriate resources to manage complex patient care. Serves as a clinical resource for the nursing staff, health care providers and the community. Utilizing research and the quality improvement process to assure quality and value in patient outcomes. Applies educational concepts and skills with patient, family, nursing staff and other health care providers to improve outcomes. Facilitates problem solving and decision making to influence the development, implementation and evaluation of patient, unit, department and organizational goals. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing with clinical focus from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington Registered Nurse License
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • 3 years of Current nursing experience in related clinical area
  • Transportation to be available at all Swedish Medical Center locations as needed
