About The Position

This Clinical Nurse Specialist role in Critical Care involves working alongside Columbia doctors as an integral partner in delivering team-based care to critically-ill patients in a 12-bed medical-surgical ICU and a 25-bed medical stepdown unit. This clinical leadership position serves as a change-agent, leveraging clinical expertise to enhance healthcare delivery and quality outcomes. Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant nursing experience
- NYS RN licensure
- CNS certificate through ANCC or AACN
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree
- BCLS certification from the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire/transfer
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, and teamwork
Nice To Haves
- Experience applying principles of continuous quality improvement
- CCRN (Adult) or PCCN certification
Responsibilities
- Leading quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives
- Developing and implementing action plans in response to changes in benchmark data
- Identifying and implementing strategies to improve clinical practice
- Providing expert consultation to nurses caring for complex patients
- Assessing learning needs and coordinating unit-based education and development initiatives
- Mentoring nursing and ancillary staff on the application of evidence-based practice
