About The Position

This Clinical Nurse Specialist role in Critical Care involves working alongside Columbia doctors as an integral partner in delivering team-based care to critically-ill patients in a 12-bed medical-surgical ICU and a 25-bed medical stepdown unit. This clinical leadership position serves as a change-agent, leveraging clinical expertise to enhance healthcare delivery and quality outcomes. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant nursing experience
  • NYS RN licensure
  • CNS certificate through ANCC or AACN
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree
  • BCLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire/transfer
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, and teamwork

Nice To Haves

  • Experience applying principles of continuous quality improvement
  • CCRN (Adult) or PCCN certification

Responsibilities

  • Leading quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives
  • Developing and implementing action plans in response to changes in benchmark data
  • Identifying and implementing strategies to improve clinical practice
  • Providing expert consultation to nurses caring for complex patients
  • Assessing learning needs and coordinating unit-based education and development initiatives
  • Mentoring nursing and ancillary staff on the application of evidence-based practice
