To provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families. This role involves utilizing the nursing process and critical thinking to deliver individualized, goal-directed care consistent with current safety standards. The nurse will identify actual and potential patient risks, continuously evaluate interventions, and collaborate with the patient, family, and healthcare team to develop a comprehensive plan of care. Responsibilities include acting as a preceptor/teacher, implementing safe and efficient care for patients with complex needs, and documenting care comprehensively. The role also involves clinical leadership, including delegating tasks, assessing physician orders, and supporting coworkers. Establishing a therapeutic relationship with patients and families, providing age-appropriate education, and coordinating transfer and discharge planning are key aspects. The nurse will independently perform the nursing process for patients with overt and subtle needs and may assume responsibility as a relief charge nurse. Participation in quality improvement initiatives and compliance with regulatory standards are expected.
