Clinical Nurse - Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU)
About The Position
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Clinical Nurses in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) to join us in a permanent full time or part time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually. The Neonatal Critical Care Unit will comprise of 16 beds and is designed to deliver care for neonates in alignment with Level 4 Clinical Service Capability Framework standards. Requirements
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse with Midwife Registration
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Neonatal Care environment
- Postgraduate neonatal qualification or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles
- Demonstrated a collaborative and engaging approach to teamwork, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Understanding of the Mater mission and values and the ability to engage others in living these values in the NCCU
Nice To Haves
- Experience within a leadership role is highly desirable
- Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
Responsibilities
- Actively contributing towards the Quality, Safety and Work, Health and Safety processes in the clinical area
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
- Provide clinical guidance, leadership and education to members of the clinical team in order to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activities
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
- Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
