About The Position

Provides direct patient care activities—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—within the guidelines of nursing care standards. The role is on a 25-bed medical/surgical and orthopedic unit at Progress West Hospital. This is a full-time, night-shift position and is benefits eligible. The position is safety-sensitive and requires working in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County. Its services include emergency care, surgical and endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and an Advanced Wound Center. The hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center and has a Childbirth Center with a newborn ICU. Requirements

Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing.
Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, as an essential function of this safety-sensitive position.

Less than 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
Educate patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Participate in professional development.
Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver, following established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
Plan proactively and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
