About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is a front-line nursing leader responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient-centered care while advancing performance across key quality and operational metrics. This role blends clinical expertise, leadership, and data analytics to drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and organizational goals. The CNM leads the unit in achieving excellence in quality, safety, patient experience, and operational efficiency. The Clinical Manager supervises staff in their daily activities to ensure the delivery of care according to established departmental policies and procedures. This position assists the Clinical Director with resolving staff issues, participating in performance reviews, monitoring budgetary practices, preparing staff schedules, developing and implementing performance improvement activities and orienting new employees to the unit. The Clinical Manager serves as a key communicator for organizational updates, policy changes and education needs. This position establishes and maintains communication with physicians and other professionals to promote mutual understanding of problems and plans of care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's degree is required within 3 years of hire or transfer.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or multi-state license.
  • American Heart Association BLS required.
  • Advanced Life Support Certification, within your specialty (ACLS, PALS, or NRP) is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Approved professional nursing certification required within 1 year of hire or transfer.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care setting
  • 1-2 years of leadership experience or charge nurse experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as leadership skills required.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree within 3 years of hire or transfer.
  • Current incumbents in Clinical Manager Role must enroll in a Master's program by September 2026 and completion by 12/31/29
  • Advanced Life Support Certification, within your specialty (ACLS, PALS, or NRP) is required within 6 months of hire. Current incumbents must obtain within 6 months, by 8/1/2026.
  • Approved professional nursing certification required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Current incumbents must obtain within 1 year, by 2/1/2027.
  • 2 years emergency room experience preferred.
