About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Manager is a Registered Professional Nurse who has clinical responsibility for the management of the Pre Operative, Operating Room, Recovery Room and GI Endoscopy areas in which nursing care is directly and/or indirectly provided. He/she shall be responsible for the direction, provision, and quality of Nursing Services provided to the patient in these areas. Responsibilities include clinical, financial, and administrative management, oversight, and support of business objectives including SMG’s mission, vision, and values. This position will have the expertise to act effectively and will be able to support leadership in personnel and related matters, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 2-4 years OR Managerial experience required, 8+ preferred
  • New Jersey State Registered Nurse License required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Valid Driver’s license and Auto Insurance
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS/PALS)
  • Experience working directly with physicians
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a department (team), required with high level of customer service and patient care navigation and care management in mind
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices and protocols
  • Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.
  • Physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountability for all aspects of the clinical operations in all perioperative areas.
  • Responsible for direct management of all day-to-day clinical operations of all peri operative departments including oversight of personnel
  • Works collaboratively with the site Administrative Director in the delivery of care and service to the patients of the ASC.
  • Maintain awareness of professional issues at the local, state, and national levels that impact the delivery of patient care.
  • Implementation and/or revision of ASC policies to improve quality and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accreditation bodies (AAAHC, OSHA, DOH, APIC, NHSH, AORN).
  • Participates and contributes in the Quality Improvement Committee and the Infection Prevention Committee and maintain meeting minutes
  • Adheres to state reporting guidelines and actively participates in root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assumes coverage of unit in the absence of the Director of Nursing
  • Ensures all assigned nursing staff have annual performance evaluations utilizing information from appropriate sources
  • Consoles appropriately as necessary, handles disciplinary action, reports, and recommends discharge when indicated
  • Performs payroll for employees and manages paid time off requests.
  • Meets on a regular basis with the Director of Nursing for the ASC to review and revise goals
  • Ensures appropriate and timely ongoing communication to the Administrative Director
  • conducts monthly staff meetings in conjunction with the Administrative Director and maintains open channels of communication with staff
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating daily operations
  • Identifies staffing needs in advance, assists in utilizing resources effectively
  • Communicate with staff, offices, sales reps and physicians of daily schedule and equipment changes and supply needs
  • Monitors surgical schedule to input of equipment, instrument and supply needs or changes
  • Facilitates the orientation and onboarding of all clinical staff
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, supervising, and development of all levels of staff in conjunction with the Administrative Director and the Director of Nursing
  • Evaluating and developing staff through coaching, training, ongoing feedback, performance reviews, dissemination of relevant information while responding to issues quickly or escalating as appropriate to Director of Nursing; respects confidentiality at all levels.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of budgeting and control by preparing, monitoring, and reviewing budgets periodically to ensure cost containment, continually reviews staffing times, punches, swipes, and overtime, to reduce overtime.
  • Works collaboratively with Administrative Director and Procurement Dept. to review case costs
  • Works collaboratively across the organization to Identify cost reduction

  • Overseeing and participation infection prevention program

  • Maintenance and updating of policies and procedures
  • Physician and employee liaison
  • Overseeing the ordering of all medications and supplies
  • In service instructions on procedures or new equipment
  • Fire and safety training
  • Maintains employee records
