Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience (Emergency/ICU/Critical Care)
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • One year of formal nursing leadership experience (external candidates)

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Two years of demonstrated informal leadership experience for internal candidates, which may include roles such as Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, or participation in Shared Governance Councils

Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Nurse Manager is an experienced leader responsible for the overall management of assigned units and services.
  • This role provides leadership and oversight of patient care staff to support a culture of excellence in clinical practice, staff engagement, recruitment and retention, and strong clinical and operational outcomes.
  • The Nurse Manager ensures the safe and effective delivery of patient care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Serving as a key advocate for safety and retention, the Nurse Manager leverages data, technology, and evidence-based practices to drive decision-making and proactively mitigate risk.
  • This role fosters a desirable and supportive work environment that enables staff and the organization to meet or exceed strategic goals.
  • The Nurse Manager models effective communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and interdisciplinary partners.
  • Role-specific responsibilities and competencies align with the organization’s Professional Practice Model.
  • Under general direction, the Clinical Nurse Manager maintains 24-hour accountability for leadership and management of a designated patient care unit.
  • Responsibilities include promoting high-quality nursing care, cost-effective resource utilization, staff professional development, and a Patient- and Family-Centered Care culture.
