About The Position

The Department of Nursing is seeking a motivated and transformational leader with a passion for Maternal Child patients to fill the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) or CNL Fellow role supporting the Labor and Delivery unit. This role supports nursing practice and patient outcomes for patients on the Labor and Delivery Unit. The CNL is responsible for overseeing the care of a cohort of patients and assuring optimal care coordination and outcomes for their area of responsibility. The role provides clinical leadership at the point of care and is vital in mitigating risks for our patients, promoting effective communication across disciplines and guiding nurses to continually grow in their practice. As transformational leaders, CNLs use change management and process improvement skills to close gaps in care systems. Act as a change agent and advocate while participating in both unit-based and system-wide improvement work and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
  • Must graduate with a master’s degree in nursing and obtain CNL certification within 3 years
  • RN licensure to practice in the state of Wisconsin upon hire
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant RN experience working in Labor and Delivery.
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill a 1.0 FTE ; full-time, salaried position
  • Supports nursing practice and patient outcomes for patients on the Labor and Delivery Unit.
  • Overseeing the care of a cohort of patients and assuring optimal care coordination and outcomes for their area of responsibility.

  • Collaborate with Maternal Child Unit Leadership Teams (Director, Manager, Professional Development Nurse, Clinical Nurse Leader and Quality Improvement Specialist Nurse).
  • Collaborate with a large group of 15+ CNLs and CNL Fellows.
  • Collaborate with Clinicians, frontline staff, and stroke coordinators.
