Clinical Nurse III- Labor and Delivery
About The Position
The Clinical Nurse contributes to a compassionate and caring environment for patients, families, and colleagues through kindness and active listening. The nurse provides clinical care, evaluates patient conditions and responses to care, collaborates with the nursing team on plans of care, and directs ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards. The role may require access to sensitive Albany Med Health System information, including HIPAA-protected health information and information regulated by federal and New York State statutes. Workforce members must access and use only the minimum necessary information for assigned duties and make reasonable efforts, consistent with system policies and standards, to protect information from unauthorized access and modification.
Responsibilities
- Implement physician orders; administer medications; start IVs; perform treatments, procedures, and special tests; and document treatment according to company policy and applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ conditions.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs for care and responses to care rendered.
- Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to create a plan of care for all patients.
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
- Access, use, and disclose sensitive information only to the minimum extent necessary for assigned duties and protect it from unauthorized access and modification.
