About The Position

The Clinical Nurse III in the Neonatal ICU assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages the needs of assigned patients throughout the episode of care, focusing on progress toward discharge and transitions within the acute care stay. This role is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team, ensuring competent and compassionate care for patients in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. The position involves implementing physician orders, administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments and procedures, and documenting care according to company policy and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Nurse also orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests, assesses patient needs and responses to care, and applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management. Primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses are provided, along with administering medications as ordered. Collaboration with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients and directing ancillary personnel to maintain professional nursing standards are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred.
  • Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
  • Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.

  • Previous experience as an Registered Nurse is preferred.

Responsibilities
